It's what's inside that counts: We select our ingredients very carefully because outstanding quality - preferably from regional suppliers - is our basis for naturally delicious snacking. Here are some examples:
A question of honour: Our flours come from German mills
Wholegrain flours are by far the most important raw materials for our products. We source 100 % of our wholegrain flours from Bavarian mills whom we have long-standing partnerships with. For example, we have been working with Ammerndorfer Mühle for 20 years already. They provide organic products, they are a family business, just like us, and they are only about 20 km away from our own premises. It's great to have such reliable regional partners that are only a short transportation route away.
SEEDsational: Our seeds under the microscope
We have a very specific selection process for our seed suppliers (e. g. for linseeds, sesame seeds). They have to perform a special optical cleaning method on all the seeds they deliver to us. This allows us to achieve an even higher grade of purity and less waste in production. Furthermore, we can guarantee that only seeds of the highest grade of enjoyment are used in our products.
Spelt-Teamwork: Our cooperation with an organic farming association
Part of our spelt grains, the raw material for our spelt flours, is sourced from a producer association: the "Vermarktungsgesellschaft Bio-Bauern mbH" (Limited Liability Marketing Company Organic Farmers). All the members are organic farmers from Bavaria. Thus, we specifically support organic farming in our region and prefer smaller farmers over big, industrial agricultural traders.
Excellence: Our suppliers provide certified quality
Generally speaking, we prefer regional ingredients, however, not all raw materials can be sourced this way. Take our coconut flakes as an example: It would be impossible to source them locally. Still, we only work with partners who produce according to the same strict quality standards as we do and who are regularly certified according to GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative; e. g. IFS or BRC certification).
Palm oil is a controversial vegetable fat that is used in many products. Apart from factors like rainforest clearance, promotion of monocultures, and social aspects (like difficult working conditions), palm oil is also often only used in its refined form, which can lead to digestive issues.
We do not use any palm oil or palm oil derivatives in our products and prefer to use high-quality vegetable oils instead.

We at Dr. Karg's want to stake a clear stand against food waste. By producing to order, we reduce overproduction. Furthermore, we have developed the following measures against food waste for leftover goods:
Donation to Tafel e. V. (food bank)
We were able to start a great project in collaboration with our transport partner Raben: Goods that have been damaged in transit and will thus no longer be accepted by our trading partners (e. g. because of dented outer packaging), but that are otherwise fine, are donated to regional branches of Tafel e. V. (Nuremberg, Feucht).
Donations to local clubs and institutions
e. g. to the "Deutscher Alpenverein Sektion Nürnberg e. V." (German Alpine Association Section Nuremberg) or to institutions under the SOS-Kinderdorf Nürnberg (SOS Children's Village Nuremberg) umbrella (day care Schweinau).
And of course, our employees are always happy to have their stocks of crunchy delights replenished. :)
Defective goods go to biogas plants
Badly broken goods and surplus dough are used in biogas plants, allowing organic material to be used for climate-friendly heating.
